LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - President Donald Trump has named nine more candidates for United States Attorney in his second wave of nominations.

One of the nine nominated is Cody Hiland, current Prosecuting Attorney for the 20th Judicial District of Arkansas, which covers Faulkner, Searcy, and Van Buren counties. He has been nominated to serve as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.

Hiland was recommended by U.S. Senators John Boozman and Tom Cotton.

"[Hiland] brings years of legal experience to the table and an exceptional track record as a successful prosecutor in north central Arkansas," Boozman said.

Cotton also praised the attorney, saying he is well respected by both his colleagues and community members.

"He has extensive experience in the law, which he will put to good use for the people of Arkansas," Cotton said.

If approved, Hiland would serve five divisions and 41 counties in the state. The job of the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas is to represent the federal government in litigation for the district.
