LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The fight to stop breast cancer is kicking up again!

The Arkansas chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation announced the 24th annual Race for the Cure, scheduled for mid-October. THV11 asked the leader of this year's race why they held a conference Thursday and what goal they have in mind for the race.

“Telling everybody that October 14 is the race day. Join us in the bold goal of lowering breast cancer rates by 50 percent in the next ten years,” said 2017 Arkansas Race Chair Kim cook.

Last year's race raised more than a million dollars! Two-thirds went to Central Arkansas programs like free screenings, and helping people afford treatment. Another third went to researchers across the nation.
