RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - A Russellville appeared in court Monday after being arrested on July 8 for allegedly threatening a woman with a machete.

According to the River Valley Leader, deputies with the Pope County Sheriff's Office responded to a house on Albert Drive. Once they arrived, the victim told officers that 54-year-old Bobby Joe Sauls came towards her swinging a machete.

The victim said as she was driving up the driveway, Sauls was swinging the machete and told her to leave and that "I'll kill you mother-[expletive]."

When deputies located Sauls, they noted that he was sitting "under a travel trailer within arms reach" of both a hatchet and a machete. He said the swinging of the machete and the death threats were all "for show" and he didn't intend to hurt anyone.

Sauls was then arrested and the machete was taken as evidence.

He is being charged with one count of aggravated assault and being held on a $10,000 bond.
