CONWAY, Ark. (March 14, 2016) -- Community Connections is excited to kick off its spring extra-curricular programs this month in Conway, Little Rock and Russellville for children with special needs and their families.
The programs are free of charge and will include theatre, music, art, soccer, martial arts, basketball and an educational support workshop.
“Community Connections offers a safe, encouraging, judgment-free environment for children to experience sports and the arts,” said Courtney Leach, executive director of Community Connections. “Our programs are free of charge so we welcome families to come and expose their child to an activity and see if it clicks!”
Community volunteers will serve as the children’s buddies in both the sports and arts programs. All activities will offer the opportunity for children to have fun and build self-esteem, physical activity and teamwork.
When Community Connections launched its extracurricular activities in 2007, 30 children joined its ACTS Jr. theatre program in Conway. Today, it serves over 12 counties through ten different programs in Little Rock, Conway and Russellville. In 2015 alone, more than 500 children participated in Community Connection’s programs.
