WHITE HALL, Ark. (KTHV) – The White Hall Fire Department is investigating a house fire that left two people dead Friday morning.

Fire officials responded to the fire on the 900 block of West Holland Avenue around 7 a.m. on August 4.

Shortly after the 911 call, police units could see smoke before fire trucks were in route to the scene. Sandy Castleberry, the White Hall Fire Chief said they aren’t sure where the fire started or what caused it.

“We don’t know. Since we have bodies it’s under investigation and we’ll treat it as it is suspicious just so we cover all basis,” said Chief Castleberry.

The fire department had the road shut down as they worked to put out some of the remaining hot spots just before noon. Crews will monitor the area to make sure no other hot spots arise.

The Fire Marshal's Office was called in to assist the White Hall Fire Department because there are two victims.

“We just want extra help,” said Chief Castleberry. “We’re not afraid to call for help, we want to make sure we cover everything.”

The chief said this was one of the bigger structure fires the department has seen in a while. Two dogs were found alive, but the chief said they believe the third dog died in the fire.

This case is still under investigation. Stay with THV11 and thv11.com for more information when it becomes available.
