An 18-year-old man from Fouke was arrested Monday night for allegedly shooting a 4-year-old boy in the foot during the weekend and rearranging the crime scene.
The Sentinel-Record reported that Noah Vuethey was arrested on felony charges stemming from the allegations that he shot the child.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the 4-year-old was admitted to the CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot.
Then on Monday, in an interview with investigators, Veuthey reportedly told them that the gun "accidentally discharged" after he leaned over a bed. The child, who was on the floor next to the bed, was hit in the foot by the bullet.
The 18-year-old then told authorities that the gun was a .40 caliber Beretta, but before leaving the home he placed a 9mm handgun on the bed and put a spent 9mm casing on the floor.
He was charged with second degree battery and tampering with physical evidence.
