PULASKI COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) – Police are working a major accident Wednesday morning.
Arkansas State Police reported that Gary Digiuseppe, 60, of Maumelle, and Felecia Stevenson, 28, died during a collision on the I-430 Bridge. The woman was apparently driving northbound around 3:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes on the bridge when her car hit Digiuseppe’s head on.
KARN 102.9 FM hosts Mike Kemp and Kevin Miller spoke fondly of DiGiuseppe, their fellow co-worker, during the morning radio show.
Kemp has shared the following statement both on air and on several public Facebook pages:
We here at Cumulus Broadcasting, KARN, the Arkansas Radio Network and the Cumulus Group of stations are mourning the loss of a colleague.
Newsman Gary Digiuseppe was on his way to work this morning from Maumelle...he was headed in to report the news for you, when a woman traveling the wrong Direction on Interstate 430 hit him head-on at the Arkansas River bridge.
Our colleague and the other driver were both declared dead at the scene.
I am fortunate to have known Gary, having spent many hours working with him, collecting, writing and reporting the news for you but also I will always remember the fellowship he and I shared.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Gary Digiuseppe's wife, Mary, and the rest of his family this morning as we all wake up to the realization of the shocking loss of our co-worker, Gary Digiuseppe. The family and friends of the other driver are also in our thoughts and prayers.
ASP said both vehicles caught fire, and both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
