LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- After more than 8 months in Kuwait, an Arkansas soldier made a surprise return home.

As the lights dimmed at Verizon Arena signaling the beginning of Disney on Ice, 5-year-old Dominic and his 4-year old sister Symphony thought they were being brought on stage as honorary Mouseketeers. Little did they know they'd be getting an unexpected surprise.

Their father, Staff Sergeant Andy Perkins just returned home after a year long deployment. He drove out on stage with Mickey Mouse.

"Come here, I missed you guys," Perkins said.

Andy's wife, Heather, began working with Disney on Ice to surprise their children after learning he would return home sometime before the May performances.

"Ever since I was little Disney has always been magical to me," she said.

And the reunion was magical for Sergeant Perkins and his children too.

"Like I was finally home," he said.

Now that he's reunited with his family, Perkins said he's most looking forward to spending time with his family and getting back to work as a Bryant Firefighter.

"As soon as this flood water recedes we're going fishing," he said.

Staff Sergeant Andy Perkins is a member of the 77th Army National Guard. He has only had 6 short days with his wife and two young children between April and July of last year.

He will return to his job at the Bryant Fire Department at the end of the month.
