EL DORADO, Ark. — An El Dorado man has pleaded guilty to attempted arson and jury tampering in connection with an effort to burn an Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officer's vehicle.
Court records show 48-year-old Harold Scott Otwell was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Wednesday as part of a plea agreement in which a conspiracy charge was dismissed.
Court documents say Otwell became a suspect in the June 2018 attempt to burn the officer's vehicle because he was under investigation by the Game and Fish Commission.
Details of the commission investigation were not released.
The court documents say Otwell used a second person in an effort to contact and intimidate a potential juror in the attempted arson case and that person cooperated with investigators.
