The University of Arkansas has named John "The Chief" Chavis as its next defensive coordinator. Chavis brings to the team nearly 30 years of coaching experience in the SEC.
In 2011, Chavis won the Broyles Award, which awards the top assistant coach in college football.
"It's so important to play great defense in the SEC and Coach Chavis brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and success in the league to the table," said head coach Chad Morris.
Over his 23-year career as a defensive coordinator, Chavis has achieved a 214-80 (72.8 percent) record.
