Eye on Entertainment: Maleficent, Edge of Tomorrow premieres

(CBS) -- There was huge star power on both coasts last night as two of the biggest stars on the planet turned out to promote their big summer movies.

A man was taken away in handcuffs after leaping over a barrier at the world premiere of Disney's Maleficent and allegedly attacked Brad Pitt.

Pitt was not hurt, he was on the red carpet supporting his partner Angelina Jolie, who stars in the new film.

The movie explores the backstory of the iconic villain and what turned her heart black. Maleficent is a family affair for the Jolie. Daughter Vivienne plays the 5-year-old princess and two of her siblings have walk on parts.

Tom Cruise ended a very busy day with a stop at the New York premiere of his movie Edge of Tomorrow. He and co-star Emily Blunt walked three red carpets in one day, first the London premiere, then Paris and finally New York. Cruise said, "It was fun, I feel very good actually. I don't feel bad because I'm used to this. My schedule is work and you sleep three hours and get up and go."

Cruise plays a soldier who finds himself in a time loop as he battles alien invaders. Edge of Tomorrow opens in the U.S. on June 6.

And no surprise here, Oprah is the highest ranking celebrity on Forbes list of the world's 100 most powerful women. The television titan placed number 14. Beyoncé was close behind at number 17.
