Mount Nebo State Park is hosting a day filled with adventure, fun, & history on July 12th to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Arkansas State Parks system and Mount Nebo.
Here's a schedule of events for the day:
9:00 am- C.C.C. History Hike (2 hours)- Join Park Interpreter Anthony on a short 1 mile hike on the Summit Park Trail to find out more about the Civilian Conservation Corp and the tremendous amount of work that they did on Mount Nebo in the 1930s. See remnants of the old C.C.C. headquarters, carvings made in the rocks, and the C.C.C. stone bridge, all in this short hike! Meeting Place: Visitor Center
1:00 pm- Mount Nebo History Talk (30 min)- Take a step back into history and see some pictures from the old days on Mount Nebo. We will talk about Mount Nebo from the late 1800s to the present. Meeting Place: Large Pavilion
2:00 pm- Mount Nebo Hayride (1-2hours) - Take a ride through history on this guided mountain tour. Join the park staff for a free and fun hayride around the top of the mountain. As we ride, Park Interpreter Anthony will tell you all about Mount Nebo's history and sites. Meeting Place: Large Pavilion
6:00 pm- 75th Anniversary Cake Cutting Ceremony- Large Pavilion
7:00 pm- Arkansas State Parks 75th Anniversary DVD- Come and experience 75 years of Arkansas State Parks! This video highlights Arkansas State Parks' rich history dating all the way back to 1933. Meeting Place: Large Pavilion
The park is located south of Dardanelle and Russellville. From I-40, Exit 81, take Hwy. 7 South through the city of Russellville to Dardanelle, turn right onto Hwy. 22 West, then left on Hwy. 155 South up the mountain.
