RECAP: Giving back with THV11

Here's a look back through the past two weeks with THV11 at charity events across Central Arkansas.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Here's a look back through the past two weeks with THV11 at charity events across Central Arkansas.

"This is Home" here at THV11. And our daily mission is to give back to others in every way possible.

R.B.I. BASEBALL:

Little Rock RBI and THV11 partnered up for our recent THV11 “Helping Home” event to help get kids to the ballpark.

THV11's Hayden Balgavy and Mary Dunleavy were live for three nights in a row at Lamar Porter Field.

They shared stories about the volunteers, coaches and former Cy Young Award winner, Cliff Lee, who helped make this organization possible.

R.B.I. baseball stands for “Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities.”

The goal? To raise awareness and funds to help promote kids to play America’s favorite pastime.

GOODWILL FASHION SHOW:

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas celebrated the accomplishments of volunteers, employers and community partners here in Arkansas over the past 90 years.

It was the Annual Awards Luncheon and Fashion Show.

During the luncheon, local celebrities including THV11’s Dawn Scott, Denise Middleton, Rob Evans and Ed Buckner showcased designs from the decades.

PAWS ON THE RUNWAY:

Paws on the Runway is an annual event hosted by CARE.

CARE is a nonprofit that was started back in 1998. The organization devotes their times to rescues and adoptions, spay and neuter efforts and recruiting the necessary financial support to do these things.

THV11’s Craig O’Neill and Laura Monteverdi emceed the 10th annual furry fashion show which ended up raising over $55,000 to help pets in need!

#ARGORED LUNCHEON:

Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, more than all cancers combined.

But 80% of all cardiac events can be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

That’s the purpose of the Central Arkansas Go Red For Women Luncheon.

Our very own Dawn Scott emceed the event with special guest speakers including Miss America, Savvy Shields.

Other THV11 girls showed up to support the cause including Mariel Ruiz and Amanda Jaeger.

Go Red For Women encourages women and their families to take action and live a healthier life.
