UNDATED (KTHV) -- It's a new civic club with a most improbable start.

A party at a lake house has led to an improbable civic club: "The Hat Club." Several friends from college, and high school got together for a summer party at a lakefront home in Hot Springs. Someone drug some old hats out of the closet, the guys put them on, had their picture made, and thus the club began.

They average about 28 years of age, and just recently held a crawfish party at the Rivermarket. It was fabulously successful, and today in North Little Rock, the Hat Club presented their biggest check yet: $10,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas.

Their next big fund raiser is set for October 29th. "The Miracle Whiff," at Dickey Stephens Park. The club now numbers over 60 members, complete with logo, and facebook page. You get the feeling we'll be hearing a lot more from them.
