SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - Special Olympics is an organization that brings a lot of joy to the lives of disabled kids. They depend on a lot of help from folks in the community to help provide fun athletic events to those with special needs.

This year Salon Beautiful in Sherwood is hoping to help send more kids from the Delta region to compete in the Special Olympics this year.

The goal is to raise money for the Special Olympics for Monroe County Center. The center is located in the Delta where sponsorship is rare.

Salon Beautiful is holding a special event this Friday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be free hot dogs, drinks, a jump house, an ice cream truck giving out tasty treats and more. Haircuts will be free for all those with special needs and $7.50 for everyone else.

The salon is located at 3415 E Kiehl Ave in Sherwood. All proceeds and donations will be used to help send athletes to the Summer Special Olympics for 2012.

THV's Ashley Blackstone sat down with Amelia Veseay from Salon Beautiful along with Ruby Tucker from the Monroe County Human Development Center and Special Olympics athlete Reginald Williams on 'Today's THV This Morning.' Click on the THVideo!
