LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A haircutting marathon that benefits pets has landed itself in our Hero Central.

Hairstylist Patrick Lomantini is performing 50 haircuts in 50 states in 50 days to benefit animal shelters. Many Arkansans showed their support Monday at Glamarama Salon in Little Rock.

One man and his friends donated $1,000 for his head to be shaved. Little Rock is Lomantini's 20th stop on his second nationwide tour.

He says all the money raised at Monday's event benefits the Human Society of Pulaski County.

"It's about bringing awareness to the communities about what they do in their community and raising money for them because they need it. Most of these shelters and rescues are run by volunteers and they rely on the community and their donations to do what they do," says Lomantini.

Last year, Lomantini performed 2,300 haircuts raising $47,000 across the country. He says they're well ahead of last year's donations.
