LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — We're a week out from the Christmas holiday and a lot of people are still checking things off their shopping lists. And some are just now starting the daunting process.
If you're one of those people who have yet to put any gifts under the tree, no reason to panic yet you've got the rest of this week to make magic happen before possible rain this weekend.
“They say it's going to rain and get cold, I don't like either one of those especially while shopping,” said one holiday shopper out today.
The jolliest holiday of the year is almost here.
“We've had a good season, especially when the weather turned cool,” Karen Carlin said, owner of Coming Home Interiors.
With Christmas around the corner, last-minute holiday shoppers and business owners are preparing for a busy week ahead.
“We're going to do 30 percent off tomorrow so people can come in and get the specialty items. Those generally leave first,” Carlin said. She’s offering extra sales and special deals this week.
This time of the year is the busiest for some store owners, but not all.
“Business has been okay, not great. There's definitely room for improvement. I think the weather earlier in the month had a big impact on it,” Jim Frank with Ozark Mountain Supply said.
Factors like the weather, along with internet shoppers, have some stores just now seeing a boom in business.
“Yeah we shop last-minute, I haven't bought any gifts yet,” a shopper said.
“The procrastinators are showing up. Some of the online stores start losing their ability to get things to you reliably,” Frank said. He hopes the weather stays clear throughout the week into the weekend so that people continue to come out and spend money.
“We're doing some birthday and Christmas shopping before the weather gets here and while it’s still nice outside,” shoppers said.
There are chances of rain later this week that may hinder your last-minute holiday shopping or errands, so get out and get it done.
