LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Let’s talk about walkways. You know a lot of people have walkways to their front door and usually it’s a concrete walkway, and in most cases its only thirty six inches wide.

I always say size matters. Why not do something different? For example here we did a walkway with stepping stones. They’re not concrete stepping stones, they are real flagstone rock, but they are forty eight inches long by twenty four inches wide.

You always want to have a walk way that two people can walk down together. So that’s why we have these big stepping stones.

Now it’s all about the things you do around the walkway which can also make it stand out from your neighbors. For example, ground cover. These ground cover sedums are all in between the stepping stones and on the side of the stepping stones. When they all grow together the mulch won’t wash over anymore.

Now what I did was I took all different types of winter hardy sedums, which you can use in most zones up to seven or six. These sedums have all different textures and colors. I’ve got this beautiful lime green mixed over here with this blue sedum, and then we have ice plant which actually blooms as well, and all of these sedums really do bloom in the summer time, mostly yellow flowers.

And don’t forget its fall, so you want to add things like pumpkins. I have these on little metal pedestals, or I also have these Daffodil flowers which are just rusty metal flowers.

You put all this together and you have a beautiful entryway to your front door, your side door, it doesn’t matter. It creates a destination.
