LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — Every year, it seems like stores are opening up earlier and earlier on Thanksgiving day just for their Black Friday deals.
"Pretty much eat Thanksgiving dinner at 1:30. Done by 2:30-3 and go stand in line and see what's the best item out there,” Erika Thrasher said.
That's how some people decided to spend their Turkey Day.
"I'm exhausted. I had to eat my Thanksgiving food outside,” Keithan Clayborn said. “I’ve been waiting in line since about 3 in morning. I slept in the car.”
The lines outside Best Buy and Toys R Us were a block long. Thousands were looking to get their hands on the season’s hottest items.
At Best Buy, that item was a 50-inch Smart TV for $179.
People like Keithan Clayborn were one of the lucky few to get their hands on it.
"I need that. Because it's going to make my house look a lot better than it is now. Know why? Because it's 4K,” he said.
Families like Theresa and her daughters don't mind the long lines. They have even turned Black Friday into a family affair.
"It's a family event. My mom will tell you. We all come out together. It's me my mom and sister right now. It's basically just being together,” Brandy Lyman said.
Her mom agreed.
"We've made this a family tradition for the girls and I for the last 10 years and we've saved a ton of money. 700 to 800 dollars each time we come,” Theresa Cogovan said.
For some, Black Friday still isn't their cup of tea.
"This is probably going to be my first and last time coming here. I mean that,” Keithan Clayborn said.
But for others, they say it's worth all worth the hassle.
It's all about spending time together and whether it's sitting around the table for Thanksgiving or coming out and doing black Friday. It’s all about spending time together. And if that's what it takes I'm happy,” Cogovan said.
