North Little Rock, bustling with Hogs fans, looks to show what it has to offer

North Little Rock wants to show all of the Razorback fans in town for the sold-out game that the city has plenty of other reasons to visit.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — Thousands of fans will be flocking to North Little rock Saturday night to watch the Arkansas Razorbacks play at the Verizon Arena for a sold out basketball game.

Seventeen thousand people are expected to attend the game. That means restaurants and bars in Argenta and North Little Rock will be packed with thousands of Razorbacks fans.

"There's a lot more going on than just the basketball game,” Chris Kent with the Argenta Downtown Council said.

If you did not get a chance to snag a seat to see the game, there will still be plenty to do just outside of the arena if you're looking for a Razorback filled weekend.

"It's going to be crazy, they're going to bring in people from the pep band…cheerleaders. It's going to be busy and it's going to be exciting,” Kent said.

Kent said says bars like Skinny J's will have plenty of specials for fans, including a part for Arkansas Alumni.

"All of these bars do fantastic on these events it's such a fun time. Everybody just really loves it, it's super fun to have the razorbacks,” he said.

Rick Garret is the Chef at Core Brewing and said Razorbacks fan bring in big revenue.

"Our numbers will go through the roof where it will be you know one night we had one line out the back door out the front door to tab about,” Garrett said.

He said games like Saturday’s give people an opportunity to experience what North Little Rock has to offer.

"The really cool part is it brings so many people from all across the state into Little rock and especially North Little Rock. So, we have this ability to like reach out and touch other people that aren't around here,” Garrett said.

So if you're looking to tailgate somewhere before, during or after the game, Argenta will turn into Razorback city Saturday night.

'It's kind of one of those things where it's like an indoor tailgate where you can hang out here and watch the game,” Garrett said.

If you are headed to the game, the Verizon Arena wants to remind people to arrive at 5:30 p.m. — an hour and a half ahead of the game — to make sure you get through security in time for tip off.
