Convicted murderer held shotgun on neighbor, fled, now on the loose in Madison County

MADISON COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) — Authorities are searching for a convicted murderer who they said threatened his neighbor with a shotgun and fled.

On April 22, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police and Huntsville police responded to an address on Highway 74 East. Teral Garrett, 59, was at the scene pointing a shotgun at his neighbor when police arrived, according to Madison County Sheriff's Office. He fled into a wooded area and was not found. A K-9 unit was deployed and was unable to find him.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office asked for the public's help finding the 5-foot-11-inch, 170-pound man. He has an active felony warrant.

He was convicted of second-degree murder in 1997, according to court documents. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call the authorities rather than approach him.

He was reportedly seen exiting the woods at the intersection of Madison 2405 and Madison 2600 before disappearing again.
