Stand up! Get help and prevent suicide

While September is National Suicide Prevention Month, the fight against this problem is year round.

Statistics show men die by suicide 3.5 times more often than women.

And on average, there are 121 suicides per day.

Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in Americans. 44,193 Americans die yearly due to suicide. For every one suicide, there are 25 attempts.

There aren’t single causes for suicide. It mostly occurs when stressors exceed current coping abilities of someone suffering from a mental health condition. Depression is the most common, then there are anxiety and substance problems.

There are risk factors and warnings signs associated with suicide. One major thing to look out for when concerned someone may be suicidal is a change in behavior or presence of new behaviors.
