Ace, a K9 officer with the Jacksonville Police Department, has a little extra protection after nonprofit organization donated a bullet and stab protective vest to the department.

Vested Interest, which is located in East Taunton, Massachusetts, donated the body armor to Ace in memory of Ty, a K9 officer with the California City Police Department.

The nonprofit has provided over 2,600 protective vests across 50 states, both through corporate and private donations.

Vested Interest offers body armors to K9 officers that are certified in the United States and have to be at least 20 months of age. New K9 and K9s with expired vests are allowed to participate in the program.
