Arkansas Baptist College terminates president

According to a press release from Arkansas Baptist College that was sent out on Monday, the president of the school has been terminated effective immediately.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – According to a press release from Arkansas Baptist College that was sent out on Monday, the president of the school has been terminated effective immediately.

Dr. Joseph L. Jones has served at Arkansas Baptist College for 15 months and succeeded the 10-year tenure of Dr. Fitz Hill who resigned to pursue other interests after leading the college to restored accreditation and financial stability, with near record student enrollment.

The press release states that Dr. Jones’ termination was “predicated on his lack of transparency with the board on issued that could place them and the institution at significant risk of financial and legal jeopardy. The lack of transparency prevented the board from having the information necessary to make timely decisions that would have been necessary to avoid the potential risks.”

“The board has lost confidence in Dr. Jones’ leadership and judgement in order to guide the school to its greatest potential,” said Dr. Harris, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
