The National Council for Home and Safety and Security has named Greenbrier as the safest city in Arkansas in 2017 beating out Greenwood and White Hall.
Six out of the top 10 cities are located in northwest Arkansas. In order to figure out which city was safest, the council reviewed recent data from the FBI Uniform Crime Report along with their on statistics. The group disqualified cities that were under 5,000 population or refused to submit a complete crime report.
Farmington Police Captain Mike Wilbanks told CBS affiliate KFSM that it was "no surprise" that Farmington came in sixth place.
"I think that we just take people in and make them part of the community," he said, "and you can feel safe coming here and bringing your children to school here and raising your family in Farmington.
