Community gathers to celebrate first responders

The service project was conducted as part of Levy Baptist Church's annual children's ministry day.

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Kids at one North Little Rock Church spent part of their weekend making sure first responders felt appreciated.

Leaders at Levy Baptist Church, located at the intersection of Pike Avenue and Camp Robinson Road, said the service project is part of a lesson in loving others.

"We love to love on people," said Robbie Lagrone, who teaches elementary Sunday School at the church.

Children, parents and volunteers gathered on the afternoon of Feb. 17 to write thank you cards and deliver goodie bags filled with snacks to police officers and firefighters serving the Levy neighborhood.

"They help serve and protect us while we're here at church and so we wanted to do something for them," said Lagrone. "And I just think it's a great way to show the kids they can love on anybody."
