Higher average, faster-growing jackpots come to Mega Millions

Mega Millions changes see an uptick in price, but increased odds and bigger jackpots.

In April, a Mega Millions ticket worth $177 million dollars was sold in Stuttgart to a couple from Lubbock, Texas. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery announced that winning the Mega Millions is about to have better odds of winning $1 million dollars, higher average jackpots and faster-growing jackpots.

The new Mega Millions tickets will cost $2, up from $1, to fund the changes. This is the first time the price of the tickets have been changed.

The first draw for the new version of the game is on Oct. 31. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday. The game is currently offered in 44 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington D.C.

More than 92 cents of every dollar of the game's revenue goes to prizes, scholarships, retailer commissions and other expenses in the state.
