Arkansas State Police asked to take over Rockport homicide investigation

HOT SPRING COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - Arkansas State Police is taking over the investigation into a Rockport homicide.

The Rockport Police Department contacted state police on Tuesday, September 19 requesting the Criminal Investigation Division investigate an overnight homicide.

Rockport police found 29-year-old Jaraad Hasan dead inside his home on West Butterfield Cutoff Road after responding to a domestic disturbance call.

A 28-year-old woman who was living at the home was taken into custody by Rockport police.

State Police Special Agents have started reviewing statements and evidence taken by Rockport police. Special Agents are waiting on reports from the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory that are expected to confirm a manner and cause of death.

Agents will prepare an investigative file to be presented to the Hot Spring County Prosecuting Attorney to determine whether any criminal charges might be filed in connection with the death.
