FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) -- The St. Francis County Sheriff's Department says it's awaiting information from the Arkansas State Crime Lab about the death of a 25-year-old transgender woman who was shot, run over by a vehicle and dragged several hundred feet.
Sheriff's Lt. Larry Hillis told the Forrest City Times-Herald that no arrests have been made in the death of Marcel Camero Tye, whose body was found on Arkansas Highway 334 near Forrest City on March 8. Hillis says investigators have some leads but can't proceed until they get everything back from the crime lab.
Preliminary autopsy reports have indicated that Tye died from a single gunshot wound to the head and from blunt force trauma to the head caused by being run over.
Investigators found two .32 caliber shell casings at the scene.
