LITTLE ROCK - The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is offering free oral, head and neck cancer screenings from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 13 on the sixth floor of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute.
For an appointment, call (501) 686-5140 between 1-4 p.m. May 9 to May 12. Walk-ins are welcome, but may require a short wait.
Free parking is available in UAMS Parking 3 at Cedar Street and Capitol Avenue.
Screenings will be conducted by the UAMS Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery.
Those at highest risk for developing oral, head and neck cancer include people who smoke, chew tobacco or consume alcohol, as well as those who have previously had cancer in the area. Signs and symptoms include sores in the mouth that do not go away, a growth or swelling in the neck, persistent sore throat, trouble swallowing or voice changes.
