LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says a company trying to collect debts owed to a bankrupt movie-rental firm has agreed to change practices that prompted several complaints.

McDaniel said Monday the pledge was made in a settlement reached in a lawsuit by all 50 states and the District of Columbia over the debt-collection practices of National Credit Solutions.

McDaniel said the bankruptcy trustee for Movie Gallery assigned accounts receivable to NCS. McDaniel said his office began receiving complaints last fall about NCS.

The announcement said NCS agreed to stop submitting credit reports on Movie Gallery customers, cancel previous reports, stop charging double late fees, and stop trying to collect interest or collection fees on amounts owed.

National Credit Solutions owner Brett Evans said he didn't know details of the settlement.
