Heading into its fourth decade of representing the International Professional Rodeo Association, Miss Rodeo USA travels the country promoting the sport of rodeo and is a role model for the youth of today.
On January 16, 2011, Katie Barger earned the prestigious honor of becoming Miss Rodeo USA 2011 during the fourth and final round of the International Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City.
The twenty-year-old wrote herself down in history as the very first young lady from Arkansas to ever win the title.
"Finally Arkanas gets on the map as far as Miss Rodeo USA goes," says Barger. "It was an honor."
Barger had to face a multitude of tasks to win the crown. For a full week, contestants were required to give several speeches, undergo a horsemanship pattern and even take a fifteen page exam that tested on everything from rodeo knowledge to current events.
Barger stopped by the THV studios with her horse Tarzan to show off her roping skills and teach our own Tom Brannon and Ashley Blackstone a few things. Click on the video link above to see what happened!
