LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -University of Arkansas at Little Rock honors students are moving into some new, cool dorms.

After 18 months of construction, the new West Residence Hall are ready for occupants. According to Exec. Director of Housing Debbie Gentry the dorms will be for mostly freshmen on scholarship with a few rooms for housing upperclassmen if need be.

"Most campuses usually put freshmen in the older building perhaps and they earn their way up to the nicer facilities. We're doing something a little bit different. We're loading this building with our scholarship freshmen!"

The buildings are Silver LEED certified and have many high-tech energy saving features.  Also, each floor has 11 private bathrooms, a study lounge and kitchen.

Classes begin at UALR on Thursday, August 17.
