THIBODAUX, LA (CNN) -- It was obviously meant to be. A man in Louisiana is a million dollars richer thanks to a cashier's mistake. She sold him the wrong ticket!

Robert Thibodaux says, "Saturday night I go to bed and didn't even know I won." Robert Thibodaux woke up Sunday to discover he matched all 5 numbers on his lottery ticket. He says, "I was thinking maybe $20, $40,000."

Family checked how much he really won at the Shoprite where Thibodaux bought the ticket. He says, "'You won a million dollars.' I went, Oh my God, yes. Yes! I went yes.'"

The retired Cajun man says it wasn't supposed to happen this way. He says, "Now, here's the thing. When I went to the store and bought the ticket, the girl gave me the Power Play, and I never asked for it."

The Power Play multiplied his $200,000 ticket times five. He says, "That made it a million dollars." I mean, how lucky can you be? I never asked for the Power Play. But she put it on the ticket and I bought it. When I go get my money I'm going to go write her a check. I'm going to give her some money."

Ever since word got out the million dollar ticket came from this Thibodaux Shoprite, lottery sales here have gone up. Cashier Marti Pitre says, "Bring more business. Been a lot more busier." The reporter asks, "Do you think people around here are superstitious and that they're coming here?" Pitre responds, "Oh yeah. They even say it. 'I'm coming here today, tomorrow and Wednesday to buy my ticket.'"

One lottery player says, "I play every week the same numbers. Two lottos, two Power Balls and one Easy Five. I never played the Power Play. And the lady pressed the button by mistake and I got it and won a million bucks. Yes.!"

The supermarket will get 10-thousand dollars for selling the million dollar ticket.
