LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Here's a little Christmas poem by THV's Craig O'Neill.
'Twas the Night Before Christmas on Capitol Hill
'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse
Because all of Congress had taken a break
Leaving millions of angry taxpayers in their wake
Oh so often with compromise in their reach
And a President wanting to go home to the beach
They played political games with taxpayers' money
Neither hopeful, nor helpful, and especially not funny
Then over the capitol dome did appear
A federally subsidized sleigh pulled by deer
And a man in red who said be not afraid
Called himself Claus, obviously a lawyer by trade
With a wave of his hand he cast a spell
That all of o-12 the government would get well
That lawmakers would care less who lost and who won
But instead concentrate on getting something done
For most of the night he worked on this hex
Despite obviously exceeding the body mass index
He did it with such humor and with such cheer
And then got in the sleigh and called out to his deer
On Boehner, On Peolosi, On Ross and On Reid
On Boozman, On Pryor, all mighty steeds
But then alas, instead of rising into the air
Pulled by those guys, the sleigh went nowhere.
