HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) - Police in Hot Springs say that they responded to a report that a man had a gun near the local mall. Officers say they found him behind the mall, and he told officers he wanted to kill himself.
According to authorities, a hostage negotiator attempted to talk with the man, but was unable to get him to surrender to police. Officers say that a member for the HSPD SWAT team used a "less-lethal impact round" to subdue the man. He was then taken into custody, and to a local hospital for treatment.
The Garland County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas State Police helped secure the area.
