HOOKS, TX (KSLA) - A group of students from Harding University were involved in an accident on I-30 Friday night near Hooks, Texas.

Police say four students in a Jeep were rear ended by a driver in a Dodge Charger.

Harding student Ty Osman got involved after he got out of his truck to check on the students in the Jeep. That's when police say his vehicle was struck by a white pickup, which was knocked into Osman.

Police say further down the interstate there was another wreck involving two other cars. Police say the first accident started at a construction area on I-30 causing a chain reaction leading to three more wrecks.

Osman had to be airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries and passed away Saturday night. Officials say the sun setting and construction may have contributed to the accidents.
