WASHINGTON (CBS) -- First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed girls from American and British high schools to the White House Wednesday afternoon just before the official dinner with Britain's prime minister.

High school girls from Elizabeth Seton High School in Cheverly, Maryland, National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C. and Elizabeth Garrett Anderson School in the UK got to preview the dinner set up and taste the dessert the guests will enjoy.

For dessert, British Prime Minister David Cameron, his wife Samantha and the other guests will be served warm Meyer lemon steamed pudding with Idaho huckleberry sauce and Newtown Pippin apples.

The first lady said the White House decided to open up the dinner preview to the girls so they could learn about state visits. National Security Chief of Staff Brook Anderson and White House Chef Cris Comerford also spoke to the group and answered questions.
