BLACKSBURG, Virginia (WJLA) - A sea of lit candles paid tribute to the 32 lives lost at Virginia Tech University five years ago Monday.
On April 15th, 2007, a gunman changed the campus forever, committing the deadliest mass shooting in modern U-S history.
This year, for the first time on the tragedy's anniversary, students attended class.
The school's provost said it was time.
A ceremonial candle was lit the entire day in remembrance and there was a statewide moment of silence.
