MAUMELLE, Ark. (KTHV) Today is Earth Day and one group is trying to do their part to make the planet a better place.
The Maumelle Mommy and Me group along with the members of the Girl Scouts picked up trash today behind the city's community center.
Group member Alyssa Anderson says the project is the perfect way to make giving back fun for kids and to direct their "collecting" in a useful way.
"I've been kind of looking for a way to direct that skill. And so this is a way for young kids to give back," says Anderson.
Afterwards, the kids got a chance to work on an Earth Day craft and eat a snack of dirt pudding and gummy worms.
