TULSA, Okla. (CNN/KOKI) -- Five guys are taking a trip across the country in hopes of cracking a sports curse. We're talking about the "Curse of the Billy Goat."

It started in 1945, when a man supposedly brought his goat to see the Chicago Cubs and was told to leave. He wrote an angry letter to the team's owners.

And he said the Cubs would never win a World Series until they learned to respect the goat. The curse inspired the men to travel from Arizona to Chicago along Route 66.

They just passed through Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a five-month-old goat named Wrigley. PJ Fisher says, "Who's to say there is or isn't a curse, but if you believe it will be broken, it will be broken." Matt Gregory says, "Hopefully they'll let Wrigley in, but that's up to the Rickets family and the Cubs organization."

The guys hope to arrive in Chicago by Memorial Day. They say their journey is also helping to raise money for cancer research.
