LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A student is still in critical condition after allegedly being hazed by an Arkansas Tech fraternity.

"We were notified a week ago Saturday that one of our student was hospitalized," said Susie Nicholson, vice president of student services and university relations at Arkansas Tech University.

Nicholson said the incident involved the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. She said the university makes students sign an agreement before entering a fraternity or sorority stating they will not partake in such activities.

"We do education at the beginning of every fall semester and our coordinator of Greek life meets individually with all of the groups that are on campus." said Nicholson.

Prosecuting attorney for the 5th District David Gibbons said the filing of charges will depend on the severity of the incident. His office has yet to receive a report on the incident.

"Depending on the severity of the injuries and how those injuries were inflicted under Arkansas law it can go from a class B misdemeanor all the way up to a very serious felony." said Gibbons.

Nicholson said the latest report from the family of the victim revealed an improvement in his condition. On their campus since 2010, she said the fraternity only has three members on their campus. University officials said the fraternity has been placed on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.

Gibbons said he expects the report to be released no later than Friday. Meanwhile Arkansas State Police continues its investigation.
