VAN BUREN, Ark. (KFSM) -- An Arkansas state employee is dead after a shooting at a rest stop Tuesday morning.
According to KFSM, AHD officials have identified the victim as Sharren Richards, 54. They say she has worked with the highway department since 2007.
Officials with the Van Buren Police Department say Richards was shot between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. at a rest stop on I-40 near Lee Creek Road.
KFSM reports Patricia Hajek-McClure, 58, of Franklin Co. was arrested and charged with first degree murder in Richards' death.
Hajek-McClure is being held in Crawford Co. Detention Center without bond.
Police tell KFSM that when they arrived at the rest stop, they found Hajek-McClure with a revolver in her hand. She also had a small self-inflicted gunshot wound to the leg.
