BAXTER COUNTY, Ark. (KTHV) - The sheriff of an Arkansas county intends to hold a press conference in regards to a budgetary crisis.

Sheriff John Montgomery of Baxter County is holding a press conference Thursday, May 3 at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Baxter County Detention Center in Mountain Home to discuss the looming budgetary crisis that faces the detention center. He intends to offer a proposal to address the situation.

Officials say the costs of medical services, pharmaceuticals, and food for jail inmates have steadily increased to a level that is beyond the capability of the budget. The continuing costs and an increase in jail inmate population have created the fiscal crisis.
