NEWPORT, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State University Board of Trustees will meet Friday to consider tuition increases at its campuses in the state.
The system says the proposal includes a 3.5 percent tuition increase at the Arkansas State campus in Jonesboro. The plan also includes increases of $4 to $5 per credit hour at ASU's two-year schools in Beebe, Mountain Home and Newport.
System President Charles Welch calls the plan conservative, saying that it still allows for an affordable education for Arkansas students.
The proposal for the schools includes a $2 fee per credit hour that would go toward faculty salary increases.
The trustees meet at 1 p.m. Friday at Arkansas State's campus in Newport.
