LITTLE ROCK, AR (May 4, 2012) - The Bernice Garden is launching its first Farmers' Market from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 1401 South Main St. in downtown Little Rock every Sunday beginning May 6 to October 14, 2012.
The Bernice Garden Farmers' Market will feature an open community space for local growers to sell sustainably-raised fruit, vegetables, nuts, berries, flowers, herbs, cheeses and other goods to downtown Little Rock residents, businesses, organizations and visitors.
Any farmer or gardener in Arkansas is welcome to sell what they raise and produce at the Farmers' Market.
To participate, farmers, gardeners and growers can rent a 10' x 10' space for $10 each Sunday. Local artists, musicians and food providers also can rent space at the Farmers' Market.
"Our mission is to ensure everything sold at the market is grown locally," said Liz Sanders, organizer of the Bernice Garden Farmers' Market and coordinator of the Bernice Garden. "This lets consumers know that what they are buying is the absolute freshest it can be and is sold by the people who raised it."
The Bernice Garden Farmers' Market will give people another opportunity to shop and buy local foods and products in Little Rock. Foodies and churchgoers can grab breakfast, brunch or lunch under the garden's canopy, listen to music, plan new dishes for the week and exchange recipes with other aficionados.
Parking for the market is free and on-site, and admission to the market also is free. All proceeds from the sale of the goods and produce go directly to the market's participants.

The Bernice Garden was created to celebrate the community and will host community events as well as the sculpture exhibit in an effort to foster community interaction and a sense of pride in the neighborhood.
The 100 ft. x 150 ft. garden consists of landscaped areas with a crushed granite foundation for the artworks. Next to the sculpture garden is a concrete patio, benches and approximately 20 parking spaces. The sculpture exhibition is part of a multi-staged development plan of the garden.
