On 'THV This Morning' we shared a great list we found on Yahoo! that details the Top 5 ways for Moms to Save Money.
Number one: Create a Meal Plan. It can not only save you time when 5 o'clock hits and a plan is in place - planning meals can cut your grocery bill as well. Plan your meals around your grocery stores sales. There are even some great websites that will do the hard work for you and help you create meals based on your local grocer's sales. Check out foodonthetable.com for some help.
Number two: Sitter Swap. Baby sitters can get expensive so starting a sitter swap with parents could be the way to go for you. The best part? It's free. You just set up an arrangement with other parents you know to swap night to watch each other's kids - like anniversaries or date nights. Just make sure you set ground rules like how long you are willing to watch the kids and if meals will be provided.
Number three: Research before you buy. Whether it's a new computer or a new cereal - looking online before you shop can help you save time and money by comparing sales and ads. It's also a good idea to look up customer reviews to make sure a product will last and you won't be out money if it breaks quickly.
Number four: Barter. Think about simple things like carpooling with neighbors, you drop off - they pick up. Or things like asking a neighbor to mow your lawn in exchange for you pet sitting for them.Or you give their kid math tutoring if they give yours a piano lesson.
Number five: Get Creative. Instead of spending money on new things take to sites like pinterest to freshen up the old. Melt down the broken pieces of crayons to make new ones instead of buying new ones. Or host a clothing swap with friends to get a new wardrobe without spending a dime.
