39th Annual Territorial Fair
Historic Arkansas Museum
Saturday May 12

The Historic Arkansas Museum presents their free annual festival on Sat., May 12 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to teach new generations about Arkansas' rich settlement history through frontier demonstrations that illustrate early life in the Natural State. This year's festivities will highlight Heritage Month (happening the entire month of May) and the theme "Dreams & Determination: Arkansans at Work." At the museum's 1850s Log House Farmstead, visitors will see how pioneers cooked in a Dutch oven, the intricate women's work of quilting and the blacksmithing traditions.

Then get ready to hoof it with the Arkansas Country Dance Society who will be teaching traditional two-steps. Promenade from one historic home to another to take in characters wearing period costumes-they'll act out the daily life of local residents in the 1800s. You'll be thankful for your modern laundry room after seeing the wash and dry process, as well as other rigorous chores. Youngsters are in for a special treat, too-they'll be invited to play with popular toys and games from the time period, including stilts, hoop-rolling and pioneer table games.

The festivities continue inside the museum with music, arts & crafts activities for kids and more. For more info: HistoricArkansas.org.
