LITTLE ROCK, Ark.(Hanger Clinic) -- Not long after the surgery, she was fit with a prosthesis and has been walking tall ever since. Throughout the years Elwart saw the difference her prosthetic clinician made in her life, and decided to pursue a career in the field so she could do the same for someone else.
She is now a certified prosthetist/orthotist at Hanger Clinic in Little Rock where she helps restore mobility to those with amputations and individuals with disabilities and injuries requiring orthotic solutions.
This Saturday, May 12, Elwart, who continues to be extremely active and serve as an inspiration to those around her, will participate in the Warrior Dash, "a mud-crawling, fire-leaping, extreme 5k run" in Amity, Arkansas as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
She'll be using a custom-designed prosthesis that includes WintersGel, the same technology used to fit a prosthetic tail on Winter the dolphin, the star of the 3D family movie "Dolphin Tale".
Jillian is trying to reach her goal of $250.00 if you would like to donate go to www.mystjudeevent.org/tempest
