NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Authorities said Cheryl Brewer called 911 after allegedly shooting her husband with a handgun.
"We did find Mr. Brewer inside deceased," said Sergeant Brian Dedrick with North Little Rock Police Department.
Authorities said it happened October 14, 2011 at a home in the 11-thousand block of Highway 165 with the couple's two children, then ages 3 and 6 in the house.
Sergeant Dedrick says they sent the case to prosecutors to determine whether charges were necessary. He says it is unknown whether Brewer acted in self-defense.
"At this point I don't see in our system where it shows domestic violence where we had been called," said Sergeant Dedrick.
Brewer's husband, Charley Brewer, later died in the hospital. Officers reportedly found a handgun on scene. No charges had been filed until now.
Brewer says she took her children to buy groceries to get away from her husband whom she claims had been screaming all day.
While at the store she says her husband called inquiring of her whereabouts. Brewer says he didn't believe her and claimed she was cheating and demanded she be home in 30 minutes.
She says he threatened to kill her and the children when they got back home.
Matters escalated until Brewer says she picked up a gun and shot her husband when he came at her once again threatening to kill her.
"This was a domestic case. You have to look at the case to determine whether it was self-defense or another charge," said Sergeant Dedrick.
Brewer appeared for arraignment Monday where a judge set her bond at $500,000. She is due in a district court June 27.
